I am very pleased with the successful development of the SMEPDO’s website. This website intends to provide electronic access to information on SME and promulgate the government policies related to SME, particularly on Prime Minister’s Decree No. 42/PMO, dated 20/04/04 on the Small and Medium Enterprise Promotion and Development, and the SME Strategy to 2010.

Promotion of SME has become important to the socio-economic development particularly on the production of commodities, trades and services, create new employment opportunities which contributing to the improvement of Lao people living standards, pave the ground for industrialisation and modernisation of the Lao PDR to a more diversified economy with higher productivity and more advanced technology.

I hope that this SMEPDO official website will serve as a free source of electronic access point to Government information and services as well as other information useful for establishing and development businesses in Lao PDR.
